What a neat evening! -- Ruthi reports
Toby Larson & Tamara Danos, Judy Mauer & Dick Vanek, Dave Peairs, Steve Burt, Alan Thum, Susan Sienike, Nancy Foster, and Dail Ruthi Dworak arrived at the Newport Beach Tennis Club around the corner from Ron & Sharon's home at 4:00 PM. And of course, our honoree Sharon Esterley and her wonderful (part of the plan) hubby, Ron Rabino arrived at 4:45 PM sharp -- thanks, Ron.
The "group" was crowded into a corner and yelled (of course), "Surprise!" as Sharon entered the pool-side patio. Everyone present had signed a HUGE card created by Nancy. It was the logo from our 40th; addressed to the "head Wolf," and computer signed by everyone (49 classmates) who had contributed to the bracelet.
Sue had picked up the bracelet (see photos) and wrapped it up with a brass Orvil Reddenbacker Popcorn plaque -- boy, was it heavy! All of this was wrapped in a huge box.
After a wonderful Mexican dinner, we enjoyed the cake decorated as a thank you to Sharon and Flan, Sharon's favorite dessert.
Sharon stated that the 1950's bracelet was similar to the one her mom had given her (it had been stolen). She especially liked the wolf carrying the diamond in its mouth.
At about 7:00 PM we migrated to Sharon & Ron's and saw all the beautiful remodeling. Boy, can't believe it is the same house! The guys got interested in the pool table and those having to drive a distance bid their good nights and left about 8:00 PM. At Sharon's house, she
showed us the wonderful photo boards of all of our years together. We have a
very dedicated gal at the helm of our reunions. Sharon, we are eternally
grateful for all you do for all of us!!!
We all would like to thank each of you for making all of this possible to honor our Sharon.
To Ron -- thanks for all you help and generosity in helping this come about.
Thanks to Guy for all of his emailing.
Thanks to Dave for taking the pix.
AND, thanks to Sharon, who for the first time since February, is receiving one of these mass emails =o). YOU ARE THE GREATEST, SHARON. Our class has been, is, and always will be grateful for all you do to keep our class together.
For those of you who sent letters, they are being mailed to Sharon so that she can savor them.
